Photosensitivity is one of the cruellest conditions imaginable for your cattle.
We have designed a rug to help with this condition giving your animal the best coverage with a light but tough tear lock polyester/cotton rug.
 
So don't put your animal on the truck give this rug a go, others have and their cows are back out in the paddock with the herd.  Maree's said her cow use to spend her days seeking out shade, now you can find her sitting out in the sun in the paddock.

  • At ICU Small Animal Rugs we don't make or design rugs to look pretty, all of our rugs have a reason behind them in aid of the animals welfare.

    This Photosensitivity cow rug is right up there on the list.  We went out to  Maree Zanders-deenen farm a well know dairy farmer and with amazing Holsteins Cattle.  Maree had a cow that would get Photosensitivity in the summer months and asked us about a rug that she could place on her cow.

    This is where we excel with our products we go to the farmer and listen to what they have to say and what they suggest in a rug for their animals.  Maree's knowledge was very informative as to how she would like the rug to cover her cow.  And this took a couple of visits to get the rug right.

    1.  The seams over the hips are the same as our other cow rugs

    2.  The neck comes up past the break in the neck, for more coverage

    3.  The drop of the rug has extra length that covers the udder

    4.  Length of the rug we have made longer for the rug to wrap around the hind of the cow giving her more protection

    5.  The front of the rug we have cut back severely, this is to stop the cow from kneeling on the fabric when getting up.

    6.  This fabric is shower proof but is fully breathable

    Maree over the years has been a great ambassador with ICU Small Animal Rugs on her cattle.  Using our Canvas Dual/Down Cow Rugs to our photosensitivity and rugs to cover her cows that have been clipped at a show to avoid sun -burn.
